FINANCIAL AID

Midwest Fine Arts Society

Financial Aid Program Guidelines

The Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to eligible students participating in programs of the Midwest Fine Arts Society, including the Midwest String Orchestra (MSO), Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), and Midwest Chamber Orchestra (MCO).

The amount of scholarship funding available is determined annually and may vary based on donor contributions, grant funding, and the financial condition of the organization.

Students may apply for financial aid once per fiscal year prior to the beginning of the season in September. Applications will be reviewed based on available funding and the criteria established by the Midwest Fine Arts Society. Submission of an application does not guarantee an award. Scholarship funds are limited and will be awarded on a rolling basis until available funds are exhausted. Scholarship awards may cover 10% to 90% of the student's tuition. Award determinations may consider the following factors:

  • Financial need of the student and/or family

  • Performance merit

  • Demonstrated commitment to musical study and development

  • Demonstrated interest in continued participation in the Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra

The Midwest Fine Arts Society reserves the right to determine the amount of each award and to decline any application based on available funding and the applicable eligibility and award criteria.

Students who are not awarded financial aid may, at the discretion of the organization, be offered an alternative financing arrangement. Such arrangements are subject to a financing fee, which may be waived at the discretion of the organization.

The Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra Financial Aid Program is a tuition subsidization program. All approved financial aid will be applied directly to the student's account in the form of a tuition credit. No scholarship funds will be distributed directly to students or families in the form of monetary payments.
